FAQ

How soon should I purchase my tickets?
If you would like to reserve a weekend tour time, we recommend that you call as soon as possible. Overall, we have a great deal of flexibility. Give us a call or check our availability online.

What days and times do you do Segway tours?
We offer Segway tours from March through November, 6-7 days a week. Tours typically begin at 9 am, 1 pm, & 3:30 pm.

Are there any age restrictions?
All riders must be at least 16 years of age.  Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at least 21 years old.  Segway tours are fun for all ages!

Are there any weight restrictions for the Segway tours?
Participants need to be at least 100 lbs. and not more than 280 lbs. This is so that the computer in the base of the Segway can read and respond to your body movements.

Are there any other physical restrictions?
We do ask that all participants be able to stand for long periods, walk a substantial distance unaided, and be able to go up and down stairs unaided. Lincoln Segway Tours are NOT able to accommodate riders who have neurological impairments or other medical conditions that would limit their ability to ride safely and respond quickly to conditions that may arise while they are on their Segway.  Pregnant women or those with fainting disorders are not allowed to ride the Segways.

How hard is it to learn to ride a Segway?
Riding a Segway really is as easy as it looks! Most people are comfortable maneuvering the Segway on their own within 5-10 minutes of the one-on-one training before our tours depart.  One of our trained guides will instruct you one-on-one and stay with you until you feel confident and ready to go. For your safety and the safety of others, we ask that you listen CAREFULLY and follow ALL instructions from your guide. They know the routes well and will lead you safely through your tour.

Will I be safe? Do we ride on the streets? Will the guide be with us the whole time?
All of our Segway tours are led by a guide for the duration of the tour. Most of the tour routes are along the sidewalks and paths.  Although Segways are street legal, we try and minimize extended riding in the street. Your tour guide will safely lead you and advise your group of any obstacles to look out for along the way.

How fast do the Segways go? Will I get to go at my own speed?
Segways can go up to 12.5 MPH – which is rather fast when moving among pedestrians. On your tour, however, you will not be going that fast in order to ensure the safety of the riders and pedestrians.

How long do the tours last? What kinds of tours do you do? What will I see?
Our tours typically last about 2 hours including training.  We want you to enjoy your tour so if you have any specific requests, just let us know!  We offer a Ride & Glide tour which is less history and focuses more on the pure fun of riding a Segway.  Our Turn & Learn tour will take you to some of Lincoln’s great landmarks like the State Capital, The Historic Haymarket, and Memorial Stadium!

Will I get tired on a tour? Should I eat before I come?
Everyone is different, but riding a Segway does take some physical effort. You will need the energy to stand and maneuver the Segway for the duration of the tour. Be sure to wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes.

Is Lincoln Segway Tours the best way to tour?
Lincoln Segway Tours is here to provide a fun way to experience Lincoln.  The owners love Segways and have had so much fun on tours in other cities that they thought it was about time Lincoln had one.  We are a REAL licensed, insured, & registered LLC in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Our guides are trained professionals that know their stuff.

Do I have to sign anything? Do I have to wear a helmet?
We require that all tour participants sign a liability waiver before beginning their training.  We require that you wear a helmet and stay with your group for the duration of the entire tour.

Are there any recommendations for clothing or shoes?
We recommend closed-toe, flat shoes. This will not only keep you safe but also comfortable!  On spring and fall days, we recommend that you dress in layers just to be prepared for any temperature swings. We also ask that you remove all caps during the tour so that your helmet is situated correctly on your head.  Sunglasses are always a good idea.

What if I had a little too much to drink before my Segway tour?
Riders who are under the influence of any illegal substance or alcohol are not allowed to operate a Segway. If we feel that a rider’s judgment is impaired, our guides reserve the right to cancel your party’s reservation upon arrival or end the tour at any point. In these instances, no refunds will be given to any person in the party.

What happens if it rains the day of my tour?
If there is a need to reschedule or cancel your tour due to rain or other inclement weather, we will contact you.  Typically we will still run the tour if it is lightly raining.  Each situation is unique.  If we cancel, you can reschedule or get a refund.  If something comes up and you need to reschedule we ask that you give us 48 hours notice.

Do you still do tours if it’s really cold/hot outside?
Yes, we do tours in hot and cold weather.  We are in Nebraska after all.  When it’s cooler, layer up and consider a wind-resistant jacket since the movement on a Segway creates a slight wind chill factor.  On warmer days, we try to use shady routes as much as possible and provide participants with cold bottled water. You will want to dress appropriately for the heat, but please remember that for safety, we still advise only flat, closed-toed shoes be worn.

Is it really all that fun to ride a Segway?
ABSOLUTELY!  You will have fun and the guide may even have to pry the Segway out of your hands at the end of the tour. Should that be the case, please remember that you can always do another tour and bring along more friends to let them in on the fun!

When should I tip my guide?
At the end of your tour, each participant may tip your guide. Our guides really enjoy meeting new people and showing them around the same as they would their own visiting family. If you enjoyed your experience, please be sure to let your guide know!

How many people are in a group?
We can handle groups up to 6 people at the moment. Large groups do require extra preparation, so please contact us as soon as possible if your group will include 6 people.

What if I don’t want to take a “tour”?
Given how fun it is to ride a Segway, we understand if that is just exactly what you want to do!   We offer two different tours catered to those that just want to Ride & Glide and those that want to Turn & Learn!

How do I get there and where do I park?
Directions can be found on the confirmation email when you book your tour.  We are located out of the Town House Extended Stay Hotel parking lot and ask that you park in a nearby garage or street.  The hotel is located at 1744 M Street, Lincoln, NE 68505.
